FAQs

(Frequently Asked Questions)

ESD Area Feeder Basketball
Edmonds-Woodway | Lynnwood | Meadowdale | Mountlake Terrace

Q: Who can play for an ESD Feeder team?

A: Any player who resides within the Edmonds School District boundaries OR has received a boundary exception and attends an Edmonds School District school.

Q: What program should my player try out for?

A: Players should tryout for and play in the program for which they will attend high school (Edmonds-Woodway, Lynnwood, Meadowdale or Mountlake Terrace.) This is based on address, current school, or academic program (Highly Capable, etc.).

Private school students are eligible to play with the program for the high school they would attend based on
family address
.

Additional information:

- ESD Area Girls Feeder programs work together to review and approve rosters

- When a team cannot be created at a specific school-grade combination, a "District" feeder team may be formed

- Players should not change programs or teams year-to-year unless dictated by roster size at specific grade levels

- Private school players who do not make the program team associated with their address may be eligible for other feeder programs but must first be cut or released from the program associated with their address

- Players cut from or not playing for their program may not take feeder roster spots from "feeder ready" players within another program

- Any exceptions or adjustments to these guidelines should be discussed and agreed to with parents, coaches and across programs

Q: What grade-level should my player try out for?

A: Typically, players will play for the team at their current grade level.

Additional information:

- Players grades 5th through 7th may play up if a team is not formed at their grade level within their program

- At this time ESD Area Feeder Girls programs do not form 4th grade teams

- 5th grade teams may utilize "feeder ready" 4th graders to complete a roster

- 4th graders should not take a roster spot of one of the 10 spots on a 5th grade team if 10 "feeder ready players" are available (thus, they should be added only as an 11th or 12th player)

- It is expected that a player playing up would return to their grade level the following year, especially 4th graders on a 5th grade team

- Any exceptions or adjustments to these guidelines should be discussed and agreed to with parents, coaches and program

A: The feeder basketball season runs from mid-October to mid-March.

Q: How much does the season cost?

A: Practice days and times will be determined by gym and coach availability. All efforts will be made to accommodate as many pre-existing conflicts as possible.

Q: What is the level of play?

A: The level of feeder basketball is typically between rec leagues and AAU basketball.

Q: What league / tournaments will we play in?
